Despite the pandemic, Wingstop plans for aggressive development in 2022

Wingstop – the US restaurant chain specialised in chicken wings – is planning to open 200 extra units in 2022. Despite the pandemic, the brand has experienced positive growth with a 12.5% increase vs. prior year in openings for 2021. 

 

Wingstop success is mostly based on its franchising model with over 90% of its total estate franchised and only 36 units company-owned. The company has reported an increase in sales of 20% for 2021 largely driven by digital sales which have come to account to more than 60% of total revenues.
