Tortilla Mexican Grill looking to expand to travel hubs and international markets

Tortilla Mexican Grill plc, the UK based Mexican-food brand, is interested in expanding into travel hubs. With the aim of growing the brand, further, with the support of franchise operators, Tortilla are looking to develop their partnerships with Compass Group and SSP; franchisees with travel hub experience will enable the brand to open in airports, train stations and motorway service stations.

Tortilla originally partnered with The Compass Group back in February 2022, when an agreement was signed that committed Chartwells Universities (part of Compass Group) to open at least 14 sites across their estate of universities, over a 5 year window.

In addition to operating out of travel hubs, there is also an objective of developing internationally; there is an interest in developing in Spain, Germany and France.

Tortilla have demonstrated strong financial results last year – the first half of 2022 saw same store sales growth of 19% which remained consistent for the remainder of the year.
