Wendy’s UK moving north

Square Burgers Ltd. will be opening a new franchise store in Sheffield, Yorkshire, as the next step in Wendy’s development plan, for the UK. The franchisee is also considering a store in Lincolnshire, with intentions to open a restaurant on Lincoln High Street. This is in addition to plans for other Wendy’s stores  in Birmingham and Manchester.

Wendy’s currently have 25 stores open across the UK, with the majority of these being London and the South of England. These new outlets demonstrate a clear move to target other regions of the UK – this development plan will be predominantly franchise based, with Wendy’s International targeting hundreds of stores nationwide, with an expectation that less than 10% of these will be company-operated. These restaurants are part of the Wendy’s International target of 1,500 stores outside of the US, by 2024.
