Earlier this month, Tucano Coffee opened a new store in Romania. The coffee shop is located in Carolina Mall, Alba Iulia.
The brand, based in Moldova, finished 2023 with 50 stores. Tucano Coffee have over 80% of their stores operated by franchise partners.
The new store in Alba Iulia adds to the multiple Romanian based sites – Romania is the largest market for the brand.
The brand, that was founded in 2011, also has a presence in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, The UAE, Saudi Arabia and Germany.

- Oct-23: The coffee chain, 5 to go, will open their first store in Slovakia in H1 2024. The Romanian brand is expected to debut in Bratislava, with aims of 50 sites in the country by 2028.
- Mar-23: Sphera Franchise Group, the operator of KFC, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell, in Romania, have partnered with Rompetrol, to open KFC units across the petrol/gas stations, across Romania’s A1 highway.
- Nov-22: McWin Partners, an investment fund founded by Henry McGovern (founder of AmRest Holdings SE) and Steven Wineger (founder of Restauravia Grupo Empresarial), have recently signed a franchise agreement with Burger King, covering Romania.
