The luxury hotel chain and members club, The Ned, and the Sri Lankan restaurant brand, Hoppers, have both expanded into Qatar.
The Ned Doha opened just prior to the start of the FIFA World Cup, earlier this month. Following The Ned London and The Ned New York, the new 500,000 square foot property has seven public food outlets, including Pan Asian, Middle Eastern and American restaurants.
The Sri Lankan restaurant, Hoppers, also moved into the Qatari market, within the past month. The Hoppers brand is owned by JKS Restaurants, who also manage Bao, Brigadiers, and Gymkhana. Eater London have announced that this new Hoppers has been opened as part of a licensing agreement with a third-party company.
Opening new hospitality outlets prior to the FIFA World Cup will capitalise on the increase in international tourists – there is forecasted to be a 162% increase in arrivals from abroad in 2022. This contributes to the projected increase of 7.6% growth across the Qatari retail sector.
