Popeyes has announced a new partnership with Irish retail and fuel operator Applegreen as it looks to speed up its expansion across the Republic of Ireland. Under the franchise agreement, Applegreen will invest €6 million (£5.18 million) over the next four years to develop a network of Popeyes restaurants at roadside locations nationwide. The expansion is expected to create up to 450 new jobs.
The first restaurant under the new partnership will open at Applegreen Midway, Junction 17 on the M7 in Portlaoise, with doors set to open in the coming weeks. The announcement follows the launch of Popeyes’ first Irish restaurant at Blanchardstown Centre in Dublin 15. A second location is also scheduled to open soon at Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, as the brand continues to strengthen its presence in the Irish market.
Since entering the UK in 2021, Popeyes has expanded rapidly, growing its footprint to more than 110 restaurants and employing around 3,500 people. The latest agreement marks another significant step in the brand’s wider growth strategy across the region.
