The chain of Thai restaurants, Pitaya, have had their acquisition, by Groupe Bertrand, completed. The French based restaurant group already manage the French franchises of Burger King and Itsu, as well as owning Hippopotamus. (The Itsu master franchise was signed in early 2022 with the first store opening in December).
The Thai fast-food chain has expanded rapidly, with 166 restaurants across the brand’s network, the majority of these across France. Pitaya was developed in Bordeaux, starting in 2010, and saw 44 new openings in 2022, with nearly half being opened by new franchisees and the other half being by existing. There are also, further international expansion plans, following stores in Spain and the UK.
The acquisition process began in the middle of 2022.
