Bars and restaurant to close for 2 weeks in Marseille, France

Bars, pubs and restaurants in Marseille and Aix-en-Provence have closed on Sunday September 27 as a measure to contain the increasing number of covid-19 cases in France, especially in the southern region.

The closure is planned for 2 weeks provided the number of infected stabilises. Special measures have also been imposed on bars and restaurant in the French capital with closing time at 10pm starting on Monday.

These measures are the latest attempt from the French government to contain the new surge of covid-19 cases in the country with number of infected as high as 16,000 per day. The hospitals are also at risk of being under stress with a reported 10% of intensive care beds already occupied by covid-19 patients across the country.
