Scottish Zambrero franchisee Dan Hawley has said the brand’s launch in Scotland has surpassed all expectations. Hawley, who already operates several Zambrero locations in Western Australia, relocated with his family to introduce Australia’s largest “Feel Good Mex” quick service chain to the Scottish market.
His first Scottish restaurant opened last month at 33 Byres Road in Glasgow. The 50-seat restaurant serves build-your-own, modern Mexican burritos, bowls, tacos, and quesadillas.
Hawley said: “I am a multi-site owner/operator of six Zambrero locations. We were previously based in Australia prior to moving to Glasgow with my family to launch the brand’s first restaurant in Scotland. Our family has been involved in franchising for over 40 years, so it was a natural progression for us. We love that we are a part of a start-up in Scotland! We are fortunate to be able to take what we have learnt over the years in the Australian market and focus on what has worked when we open up here, and so far, it’s been a flying success. The reception we have received so far has exceeded all our expectations. We have clearly found and filled a gap in the market for fresh and healthy Mexican, that also has a great cause. Hopefully we can continue to expand the brand across Scotland and bring more burritos to more hungry locals.”
Zambrero currently operates 13 locations across the UK and more than 350 worldwide. The company launched a UK franchise recruitment drive last year, with ambitions to grow to 100 sites by 2030.
