Tim Hortons, the Canadian brand, last week opened their 700th store in China. The new store, based in Yinchuan, demonstrates the operators objective of increasing their reach across all areas, including those with a limited current presence.
The objective of 1,000 stores by the end of 2023 (thus, a further 300 openings), is expected to be reached by contributions from sub-franchising in new cities.
The brand is operated by Tims China, and they have rapidly grown, with their 500th store opening in October 2022 and their 600th in December 2022. The first store opened in China in Shanghai, in 2019.
Tims China’s relationship with RBI (the brand owner of Tim Hortons) helped in acquiring the exclusive rights to operate, develop and, additionally, sub-franchise the Popeyes brand, throughout China. This was announced in 2023.
Additional Tim Horton News: the brand will be entering South Korea, after RBI agreed terms with a new franchisee, in May.
