Subway targeting Asian markets

US restaurant franchise, Subway has set their sites on expanding across Asia. Thailand (Franchisee: About Passion Co. Ltd.) and Malasyia (Franchisee: Pegacorn Sdn Bhd) are just two of the new development agreements that Subway have signed that aims to develop the brand outside of the US market. With more than half of Subway’s stores being based in the USA, the company believe there is untapped potential in other geographies, across the globe.

With the help of the nine, new, master franchise agreements agreed, outside of the US, over the previous year and a quarter, the brand are projecting they will deliver over 5,000 new stores, across the next ten years.

One year ago, Subway signed its largest ever master franchise agreement, with Everstone Group. This agreement contained a 10 year development plan that consisted of opening over 2,000 new restaurants across India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
