Pret A Manger and Millat Group have partnered with a development agreement which will see the British based Food to Go and Cafe brand open in South Africa.
With the first store set to open in March 2024 in Johannesburg, with further site openings in Cape Town, Durban and Pretoria, Pret A Manger will be making their first steps in the African continent.
Recent Pret A Manger news includes the first standalone store in Canada, new stores in The UAE, a debut in Spain and entry into the Indian market.
The brand operates in 17 markets, with over 700 stores – the majority being UK based.
Millat Group are a South African private equity firm based in Johannesburg. The own the licensing rights to Circle K (US convenience shop brand) in South Africa and operate Hyatt House Hotels in the country. They also manage a number of dark kitchen restaurant brands in Johannesburg.
In South Africa, KFC have been expanding further with a number of new stores opening – this was documented back in December 2023.
