Papa John’s to re-enter India with plans of 650 stores

Papa Johns, the American pizza brand, are planning to re-enter the Indian market. Having originally opened their first store in India in 2011, the brand the exited the market throughout 2017 and 2018.

 

Now, with a new franchise partner (PJP Investments Group), the brand are looking to open 650 stores across the country over the next decade – Bangalore is set to have the first opening, in 2024.

 

Papa Johns have worked with this franchise partner before – they first worked with PJP Investments when the brand entered the UAE in 2005.

 

Law firm Khaitan & Co are assisting Papa Johns with their contractual and legal requirements.

 

The Indian market is being targeted by a number of brands at the moment, including: Wendy’s, TGI Fridays, Akiba Dori, Pret A Manger and Capriotti’s.

 

In December 2022, Papa Johns opened 11 stores across the UK.
