Chick-fil-A Expands UK Franchise Search as Growth Plans Continue

US fast-food brand Chick‑fil‑A has begun searching for additional UK franchise partners as it looks to expand beyond its initial five-restaurant target, Propel has reported.

The company returned to the UK market last year with a site in Leeds and recently opened a new restaurant in Kingston‑upon‑Thames. Chick-fil-A has launched four restaurants in the UK as part of a plan to open five sites over two years, alongside a wider commitment to invest $100m in the market over the next decade. The brand has also opened two locations in Northern Ireland through a partnership with Applegreen.

Chick-fil-A is now recruiting new “owner-operators” for the UK. Under its selective franchise model, operators run a single restaurant, share profits with the company, and are closely involved in daily operations while the brand retains ownership of the business assets. Prospective operators are required to pay an initial franchise fee of £10,000.

The Kingston restaurant is operated by franchise partner Conor Ashford, who oversees day-to-day operations and community engagement initiatives.

Regarding the Kingston site, Bryn Hames, principal development lead for Chick-fil-A UK, said  “It goes without saying, the development team has been well supported throughout this project from inception through to completion by internal teams both in the UK and US. Looking forward to delivering a few more.”
