Akiba Dori follows TGI Fridays and Pret A Manger in agreeing development plans across India

UAE founded restaurant brand, Akiba Dori, have signed a 30-store franchise development agreement covering India. Created 5 years ago, the brand have set out plans to expand outside of The Middle East for the first time – after also opening in Saudi Arabia. They are looking to, over the next 5 years, ensure the modern Japanese street-food and Tokyo style pizzas are available across multiple major Indian cities. The deal has been agreed and signed by Franchise India and FranGlobal.

The expansion into India follows TGI Friday’s announcement, back in September last year, that they had reached a 10 year Master Franchise agreement, for 75 restaurants across Southeast and South Asia. The current plans expect 55 of these locations to be in India, with the remaining 20 to be across Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

In June, 2022, Pret A Manger also agreed a franchise agreement in India.
