Sodexo and Lagardère Travel Retail share financial results; companies benefit from sporting events

Sodexo and Lagardère Travel Retail both achieve year-on-year growth, announced within their respective financial announcements.

 

Lagardère Travel Retail managed to attain record quarterly revenue, driven by high sales due to increased footfall during the Olympic Games in Paris.

 

In addition to the success in the French market, the Paris-based company saw strong performances in Spain, Italy and the UK. These markets were key contributors in 15% growth in Year-on-Year sales for the quarter. (Like-for-like sales grew by 12%).

 

The franchise operator of brands that include Burger King, Paul, Pret A Manger and Starbucks have seen their 9-month sales for 2024 increase by 17% compared to the Q1-Q3 in 2023.

 

Sodexo have also claimed sporting events have contributed to their performance – contracts for the Rugby World Cup in France (2023) and Olympics in Paris (2024) have been acknowledged as factors for strong European performance contributors.

 

Sodexo’s Year End Results (ending August 2024) saw their food services group grow by 9.3% – Sodexo’s food service group “provide quality and sustainable Food Services to companies, hospitals, schools, universities and stadiums”.
