Ready Burger – the plant-based quick-service restaurant concept founded by boxer Anthony Joshua – has raised more than £17m in hours.
The company is raising funds through the online platform Crowdcube with the original objective to reach £1.5m in return for 19.61% equity. So far, about 300 investors have already participated and campaign is “overfunding”.
The brand is operating a site in London with another one already in the pipeline for the summer. The plan is to open two extra units in London by the end of the year and then expand in major UK cities in 2022. Franchising opportunities should be available as from 2023 aiming at opening more than 40 units by 2024. The sites are a mix between high streets and retails parks, dark kitchens and motorway drive-thrus.
The success of the brand is a sign of the market strong interest for alternative plant-based options to traditional meat products.
