The team behind Basilico, the 10-strong woodfired pizza restaurant group, has launched its protein-focused pizza concept as a franchise cloud kitchen.
Founded in 1998 and led by Paul Adams, Basilico describes itself as London’s first woodfired pizza delivery company, with the brand operating multiple sites across London.
Protein Pizza was introduced five years ago after the company identified a gap in the market for pizzas offering a stronger protein-to-calorie balance than traditional options. Until now, the range has been available for delivery or collection through Basilico’s existing restaurants.
The concept is now being rolled out as a standalone cloud kitchen franchise, marking the next stage in its expansion strategy.
The roll out is being led by franchise director Victoria Creamer, former talent acquisitions manager for Sandwich Sandwich and co-owner of Melbourne Deli & Kitchen in Derbyshire. Propel reported, Victoria Creamer said: “We offer ten-inch pizzas, which are all under 700 calories and with 50 grams of protein. It’s been very well received so far and added £100,000 a year in sales on to each branch of Basilico. The demand for protein is growing, and standard pizzas don’t offer the balance between protein and calories that a lot of people are looking for.”
